I was born in 1962 and since then I live in the city of Mendoza, in the west center of Argentina.
As a child I looked forward to the summer when we used to vacation in the Comechingones mountains of San Luis or Córdoba, where I enjoyed nature between horseback riding or the fishing of catfish and mojarras.
One day, while fishing with my “tacuarita” in the Rio Grande San Luis with my uncle Manuel, I watched a man throw a line in the air and marveled, that fisherman was Ernest Handl, pioneer of fly fishing in Mendoza and it was his fly rod the first that I had it in my hands.
Time passed and after passing through hooks and cork buoys, I came to discover in a stained glass window the book "La Mosca" by Benito Pérez... was the beginning of the passion for fly cast and its many nuances.
For years I tried to keep the essence of the fly cast true to its origin, tying only hair and feather flies, but I found it almost impossible to get a good bamboo rod that made me feel like I was going back in time to fish in the Rio Grande with my uncle and Ernest Handl.
Today I enjoy fishing with my handmade bamboo rods to the beat of its natural rhythm.
I hope you do sometime.
